The moonlit path before me dims and
I know my sole wandering is ending soon;
already I am in the room where you lay waiting.
The lightening sky heralds chill’s slow death
freeing action. You kick against confining cloth and
unconscious, bare yourself for my entry.
I hover over you. Fleeting touches
against familiar face, familiar places. Already,
eyes are restless beneath closed lids. Ready.
The shadows are more piercing now,
Penetrating like the primordial drive pushing me
into you. Urgent and insistent
Like bird song.
Then everywhere, sockets are plugged
sparking kettles and computers to life.
Dew on lawns multiply as sprinklers cry
and buses moan their arrival from across the street;
We awaken.
